Oil leak - from back of EA82 MPFI motor.

Post by casual » Tue May 02, 2006 2:38 pm

I've got an oil leak form the back of the motor, Replaced the sump seal, rear main seal & both head gaskets.

What else is back there that it could be, Considerable amount of oil each time I stop 5cm round mess on concrete.

Only leaks when the car is driving??? when it idles it won't do it? Any other funky spots to look where it could be running from?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Have you checked the diff seals? both front and back seals usually leak in all older Subies.

Haven't checked them, thanks I'll look

Any more suggestions are appreciated, I'm pretty sure its losing Engine oil not G/box fluids.

Could I have cracked the block????

You may have pinched the rear engine seal on the way in or you used an aftermarket seal as sometimes they leak in this case genuine is the way to go.

Thanks for your input I'll let you know how it pans out, doesn't seem to be diff seals or oil pump. I got sick of playing the chasing game so Its gone to a mechanic

Thanks
