brumby running on 3 cylinders?

i have a 1990 brumby with a slightly older motor in it (not sure how much older but still an ea81) that is only running on 3 cylinders, it has spark and compression, what else could cause the problem?

valve clearances, oh , you have compression, but enough ? cruddy spark plug or lead may still poop out under electrical load. How so the miss, at idle, when driving, accelerating ? Which one? water leaking in can cause a miss too from say leaking headgasket, seeping water in over night ...

If you have a multimeter or continuity tester, check the resistance of that lead whilst moving it around and bending it, wiggle the caps at either end as well. I chased ignition issues for ages and it turned out to be the lead being intermittent...the nearly new leads that is
