Great, not what I really want to hear as I did get a small bit of overspray on the bonnet...

I'm about to put my second screen in shortly using a slightly different method. I fit the rubber seal to the windscreen, then fit the metal trim. Push the top of the screen into position and work from the bottom with two cords, as shown in the manual mentioned previously. I have used kerosene instead of silicon spray, works well. Happy Fitting.
Regards Buddyboy.

Did this size rope work ok? I've always used smaller size with the rope coated in Vaseline.

Whipper snipper line has worked very well for me, get a thick version and... wear gloves, it doesn't just cut grass!

Looks like El-Freddo went for both whipper snipper line and some thick cord. Always used venetian blind cord as used in the old 50's and 60's 2" slat variety, so curious to know where the thicker cord came from - bulk shoe lace ? Am still sitting on this task - got the rubber and the 12mm gap that allows the internal gutter to drain inside when wet :(

Yeah the red rope worked well for me. It's the 8m (from memory) bunch you can get from SCA or Bunnings. I like it for odd jobs and it's good for tying down things too.

I used the builders rope to try it out but it seemed to tear into the rubber too much for my liking when pulling it out.

Cheers
