OBD II scanner for 2004 Outback

Post by alisoncc » Sun Apr 07, 2013 1:04 am

Need to pick up a low cost OBD II code reader ASAP. A while back tried an Autel MS509, which seemd to work intermittently, now looking at the AL519 off ebay for $120. Apparently item located in Melbourne. Anyone had any success with this unit?

Driving a MY04 Gen04 Outback. Apparently there were some issues with pre-2006 subbies and OBDII in Oz. Looked at a few of the code reader variants, need something stand-alone to chuck in the glove compartment and retrieve when necessary, rather than all the other possibilities. Any advice appreciated.

Although I didn't get any replies to my query, I chose to go a head and purchased an AL519 via Ebay. Worked straight out of the box. Haven't yet evaluated all of the functionality but the unit seems to do the job.

I personally haven't used this model but it looks like it should do the job.

Are you having troubles with your Outback?

Nice Alisoncc, what about the elmscan ones on eBay - I have one that I got for a commodore I never drove, so it's just been wrapped up on a shelf ever since; does anyone know if these work on Subees?

BTW RSR_555: Did you get my msg re the cam wheel etc. Cheers
