Could this be my fuel pump?

Hey everyone,

Trouble with the l series and similar to what I have experienced before. Engine running fine when you are on the throttle but as soon as it drops back to idle it cuts out. Keep it above 1000rpm and it is okay but below that and it konks out. Carb has been rebuilt, Checked Pcv? valve, and idle solenoid. All seem okay. Could this be my fuel pump on the way out?

Cheers,
James

You'd think anything but fuel pump - float setting in carby ? Can you see a little window ?ao

No window to float level on mine but was reset only four or five months ago. Will give the idle jet and carb a good spray with cleaner to see if I can 'flush' out the problem.

I'd say blocked idle jet - from my limited knowledge of carbies these days!

Have you run your tank low recently - you may have picked up some crap that's passed through the fuel filter and ended up in the carb blocking something to do with the idle mixture.

My thoughts anyway!

G'day, check the idle cut solenoid. It should click when connecting and disconnecting it with the ignition on.

Thanks guys,

Yep checked the idle cut solenoid.

You might be onto something there Bennie. Did run the tank low recently. Gave the idle jet a good spray with cleaner and the problem has gone away. Thanks for the advice!

No worries, that's what we're all here for!

Replace your fuel filters too ;)
