Guys, thoughts appreciated. I found that both front CV boots have been torn open, no idea why and given they are about 12 months old I'm somewhat perplexed as to what has caused this. Before I tear them down to replace the rubber boots, what should I be looking for with the CVs?

Brumby, l series, forester? I can tell you if it is an MY or brumby it is probably due to the angle the CV is on and perhaps the make of cv shaft you are using.
I can post more info on how to replace the boots when I get home.

this is for a liberty shaft but it is the same process once you have the shaft out.
tripod CV joints
I hope this helps you

If it's the Brumby like in your avatar, make sure you get the right inner boots or inner boot, for the drivers side. The correct one has a smaller rib in it to clear the steering shaft. I've had CV boots that didn't have this smaller rib, it rubbed on the steering shaft and split in about 2 weeks!

Hey Ray, another thing to check is the quality of the rubber, some of the cheaper ones have a lot more plastic in them and they aren't as flexible as some others. I found a place over here in WA that has the best ones I've used other than genuine ones.
