MY/Brumby bouncing speedo needle

Post by El_Freddo » Fri Aug 28, 2015 8:55 pm

G'day all,

So Sunnie the Brumby's speedo now flickers/bounces/wobbles. The fast you go the worse it gets. It bounces about 5mm with your actual speed in the centre of that.

My question is: would this be speedo cable related or speedo drive gear related? Or worst yet the speedo head itself?

Any help or insight into this would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Bennie

used to fix this problem with CRC 556, its small sprayer tube shoved up a just as small ID clear PVC tubing stuffed in the back of the speedo head pshhhtt.

Does it improve as you build the cabin heat up ? If it does, sounds like in speedo head. Could be pooey old cable too ...

I reckon you've nailed it on the head Johnno!

I drive Sunnie between Shepp and Benders only to realise halfway through the trip that the needle was very steady. Slow down to 60 and there's a bit of a wiggle but not as bad as I e seen it.

Your comment about cold made me realise I've seen the wobble/bounce at its worst on the way to work - cold run, no pre warm up.

I'll have to get on that. I'm guessing its "just a squirt" of that stuff, not a 2 sec spray hold amount?

Cheers

Mine does the same thing intermittently, I'll give the recommended solution a go
