If you can remove the gearstick, bend it forwards and to the left just slightly.

Where did your lift kit come from???

Are your gear box blocks an inch smaller than the rest of the kit?? or are all the blocks the same height?? Does the 4wd leaver also sit up rather high??

I had the same problem in my 89 brumby with 3inch lift. I removed the gear lever and cut the kink out to move the main shaft to the left (but kept the same angle) as it hits on the 4wd selector bar. Basically means it is now straight but I should have moved it slightly to the left as it still hits but it works. Removing the kink has shortened the lever a bit but It seems better a bit shorter.

Just replace the bushes in your linkages and all should be fine.

Thats a point... could be the link between the box and the selector.

Look at this site..

What box are you running in your brumby. HJad a similar prob when I did the box on my lseries. It runs a ej dual range box. Turns out it was just the pivot bot in the wrong way around,

Thanks for the input so far guys

the lift kit is a BYB 3 inch with the usual 2 inchblocks for gearbox

gearbox is just the standard dual range 4 speed, just want a quick fix for it as i have a trip planned for this coming thursday. going to convert to a five speed after this trip.

i might try the shifter slop stopping from dave and see if this helps, hopefully it does.

ill let you know how it goes.

Cheers Tim

No worries mate... I found that to be a great link too... made me wish we had something similar on this site.

It's an extreamily common problem... i learnt the hard way many many years ago... replaced the gear box before i realised it was just the linkages.
