TGV tumbler group valve
TGV tumbler group valve
Hi all trying to get a bit of technical advise thanks. I have a 2006 outback with a ej253, manual. It recently overheated, cracked radiator, done a head gasket. I have cleaned the valves, lapped them to seat better, machined gasket face, new head gaskets, radiator, water pump etc etc. All back together and torqued correctly. The car starts, rough idle, revs ok. Check engine light refers to stuck TGV passenger side. I took the sensor off (front) and found the TGV shaft hard to turn. Used pliers until it freed up. Put the sensor back on under tension (90 degree) turn to load the spring. Still a tapping sound. I have unplugged the cables from both the sensor and the motor, either end of the TGV shaft, and still tapping. My question is, with both of these unplugged, no power, my thoughts are there shouldnt be a tapping sound? Unless it flaps under a vacume. Maybe I have better check the valves / rockers? Cheers all. Brett

Re: TGV tumbler group valve
easiest way to deal with TVG's is to delete them
