drove from uni to a shopping centre this arvo bout 15 mins. when i turned the car off clutch felt a little weird ie the pedal grabbed hell closer to the floor. didnt think much of it till i went to go home and it stayed the same all the way home. the clutch has changed its pressure point where it starts to engage- it likes grabs heaps early and then still hasnt engaged until where it normally does. so it left me jerking the car around the rest of the way home.
any ideas what happened? i checked the cable adjuster dont really know what else to check.

I think Subarino had a similar issue recently and it turned out to be a torn clutch fork....but this got worse slowly over a couple of weeks. Maybe yours has actually partially snapped. Or possibly it might be the actual clutch organic matter giving way, Alex's suddenly went right to the floor aswell when his shredded.

Yeah... doesn't sound good Matt.... will have to wait and see if u lose the entire clutch operation... or if u slowly lose adjustment and need to keep adjusting it.
At this stage it sorta does sound like u have done something to the clutch fork... but if u have then this should start getting worse very shortly.
Any idea how old the clutch is?

Mines finally getting replaced today, it was scraping the rivets on one side and obviousally slipping alot.
What brand is it thats bending forks? A friends installing it for us and just said it's a slightly heavier duty clutch and cost $240, Ill be able check the brand tonight when it gets put in.

after driving on it today it shudders alot engaging into 1st and 2nd, a little bit better into the higher gears prolly coz im moving but still not as easy to let the clutch out. i think it may also be a little slippage in it so yesh not very nice to drive at all. so looks like im up for a new clutch- even if its just the fork might as well replace the whole thing while im down there.
so would people recommend the beefed up clutch and flywheel from that custom place? or should i go with the HD exedy one from work or just the standard one?

I wouldn't beef it for your motor... go the HD one. It will increase your chances of fork problems if u get the hardcore clutch.

hmmm my clutch feels alot better for some reason, not like it did when i posted this thread. i had a bit of a fiddle with the cable adjuster too and now it seems almost normal. maybe im going crazy but yeh looks like its all running smooth again. i figure ill do something about it if the clutch or fork breaks altogether and im left with no drive.
thanks for the advice anyway.

crap. looks like its done it again. as soon as i got my car back together again- replaced cv (this one is shagged too), replaced diff- went for a test drive and the clutch is gone all weird again as per my original post.
about a week after that post tho it came good again hopefully it'll happen again. only thing this time there is a scraping noise and clutch is much harder to press.
looks like the subi will have to make its first trip to the mechanic (since i got her) to get it sussed.

A clutch fork problem wouldn't just solve itself and come good for a few weeks like it has seam to.

well it didnt exactly come good, still felt slightly weird- i had more shuddering when using the clutch. ill get it checked out

i got the mechanic to have a quick look over it/drive. he reckons the slight shuddering is a warped flywheel, but could be more. so what im gonna do is order a new clutch kit and when that comes in ill crack the gearbox apart and change the bits. should solve the problem. will keep ya posted.

Let me know if you need another flywheel, I should have a few here. Otherwise perhaps get yours skimmed.

I had the same thing a few months ago in my L sedan, Turned out that the cable was just about to break, So I replaced it and all is good with the world again.
