clicking cv

it may be a bit of a noob Q but anyway- If i have a clicking cv with no visible tears on the boot, does that mean it needs more grease/can it be repaired, or is it screwed and on its way out?
one of my fronts is clickn and hopefully its not coming from the complete new shaft i put in 2 weeks ago.

yes Matt...it may have a chunk out of one of the bearing cages or sumthing...my new one is still going strong!

If it lacks grease then it would shutter badly during acceleration... then if you get to it straight away it can be saved.... if it's clicking then its stuffed... only hope is to swap your complete shafts from left to right... this may give you some more time due to the wear points being in different spots.
Other than that u will need to replace it.

depends on how much you car about the money or your car though.
Subies are indestructable.. i'm sure i'm not the only one here who has let a clicking CV go for months before replacing it. One CV got so bad over a christmas holiday when i was ferrying lots of friends to the beach that they all thought my engine was falling out onto the ground or something. Was just a really buggered CV. (needless to say, for those naysayers that like all-new parts, I ended up replacing more than just the CV in that situation)
but yeah as subarino said, they're probably stuffed and its just a matter of time.
