Been looking at the inspection window on the A/C thingy (not sure what to call it) and in the little glass window all I can see is a heap of little bubbles rushing past which means its time to regas.

Assuming I have no leaks in the A/C system. What refrigerant do I use? Can I buy a regas kit and do it myself?

I Remeber years ago (back in the 80's) before CFC's were a big issue my Dad used to regas the A/C on his falcon with a kit from Repco and I am sure I recently saw a "regas it yourself" kit in an Autobarn catalog ??

pretty sure you need to be or know a gasfitter to buy the gas these days and the type of gas sould be stamped on the plate on the compressor.

mostly the gas is (R12) i think.

Do your self a big favour & get the system retro-fitted for R134A, then when ever it needs regasing in the future you can get it done any where.

You see different states have different laws as what can be used, but R134A can be used any where.

Thanks for the advice. I'll take you up on the offer of more advice if my auto electrician has any bad news about the A/C today, they are generally pretty good.
