Mate, if you've got an EA81 and your in perth, pretty much the only advice you'll be getting is to stick an EJ in it :p

Let us know your problem, you'd be surprised about what you can solve on the forum with a bit of writing and some knowledge...

Welcome to the forum too ;)

Bennie

PS the perth crew are a good bunch, they seem to love their EJ's (and I can see why).

yeah, who knows, with some effort and practice, one day you may be able to write like discopotato03. If only I could write half as good ....

Sounds like you've got a vacuum leak, once it warms up and the choke goes off it runs majorly lean.

Check all your vacuum lines for splits or holes, and the plastic joiners for any cracks.

To help track it down you can try lightly spraying WD40 around the engine bay with the engine running, you'll hear the revs change if you spray near the leak.

Also could be the diaphragm in the distributor has deteriorated and is leaking.

could also be flooding the carby?
possibly a sticking float not letting the fuel flow stop

Or the choke is not switching off?

At full throttle the carbie will open the choke, once throttle is released the choke closes again. This will happen until the choke is manually opened by pushing the cable in or by the auto choke, provided its not fouling on anything.

Good luck!

caribie just had full rebuild carb man has played with it on car all is working fine . Have put wd40 overall vacuum lines got a nice clean motor revs didnt change tho , diaphraghm in distributor u talk about is that the one in the vacum advanceunit , it has a slight leak in it , have been told it's not enough to worry about
