Nope
MPFI heads have dual inlet ports, carbie heads have single inlet ports

Yeah MPFI heads were a bit of a drama for me to find.. For example, i live on the east coast (NSW) and the only ones i could find were on the west coast (WA).. You may have beta luck but... You could convert to carbie if you were seriously dedicated...!

Whats wrong with your MPFI heads, do they have cracks from overheating?
You should be able to find an 88/89 touring wagon in a wreckers somewhere

I have a set for my NALPG (carb block, efi heads and manifold) set up and they too are cracked between the valves even leak petrol when I do the old valve test on their side and poor petrol into intake and exhaust ports to check valvers YET when machine shop did their vacuum test they come up alright - meaning sometimes those cracks do no harm...

Nearly every EA82 that has done more than 50,000km has them. 99% of the time they are cosmetic and will cause no harm

we thought about it earlyier today as we pulled my ea82 race motor out.
you can use the heads in theory but need new intake and exhaust but aat that stage might aswell use the head use a different intake to have twin carbies (much cheaper than having one for a single made or modified) and custom exhaust

Unless you have overheated it, it'll be fine
There was a Technical Service Bulletin released by Subaru years ago saying that they are only cosmetic in nature
I'll see if i can find it

I know a fella that cut his teeth on our old beloved L Series at a dealership, reckons he saw a few cracks with low mileage and reckoned there was the OK to shove 'em back on and when new head gaskets went on so too did a lot of three bond gasket goo
(can't seem to find this tip in the factory manuals)
The Tech Bulletin would make a good read

Alright ill give it a try, does anyone sell just a head gasket? cause everywhere i have rang says that they don't sell just the gasket anymore and that i can only get it as a VRSSuparoo wrote:Unless you have overheated it, it'll be fine
