how to remove diff from brumby?
how to remove diff from brumby?
What is the best method to remove a rear diff from a brumby?
im needing to change the diff to suit the gearbox i put in.
I had a shot at it today but got stumped by the pins holding the driveshafts on. They just wont budge! have only soaked them in wd40, are there any other tricks to getting them out? i have removed in the past front driveshaft pins easily enough, but these rear ones are a mongrel.

Use the Toonga method.. FBH and if that doesn't work.. get a bigger one

add heattt....loads of boiling water works okay. Or a blow torch, i can imagine getting boiling water up there will be a pig haha.
is it the pins on the diff that wont come out or the ones on the hubs? If its the diff pins, sometimes its easier to drop the whole diff out of the car with the driveshafts still attached.

ahahaahaha i was part of the 1% that couldnt get it out at all....and i tried everything known to man.
ended up repalcing the diff and shaftrs with it haha

the drills dont work all the time, caus the pins are hardened spring, and will snap some of the most expensive drill bits...hahahaha....

I normally go with what Alex has mentioned and remove the shafts with the diff.. once out of the car you can usually have better control on the pin punch. We have had many that seize either the roll pins in or the cv joint to the spline.. so when you go to put them back together
make sure you use lots of Kopr-kote and make sure the hole is aligned correctly

Keep hitting it with a FBH and it will come.. you might destroy the cv joint but you should be able to pick up a cheap rear one

siezed diff pins;
repeated doses of diesel and lots of pensioner type patience.(I've got forever; why rush?)
