Mystery Pipe?
Mystery Pipe?
Hi; Can someone identify the function of the yellow capped pipe on my 1/89 L wagon? (see pics). You may remember that this is the electric subelec. I have re-fitted the EA82 as my affordable battery pack was not powerful enough for electric only; so the electric motor is bolted to the diff again and the car is a dual power or petrol or electric hybrid, but not 4WD.Then again, all 4 wheels can drive at once, but with separate throttles. Good for acceleration bursts or hills. This is the only fitting that I can't work out.

Originally this outlet had a pipe that was open to atmosphere.. it would draw warm air off the engine for cold mornings. Most owners blocked them as we didn't really require them in Aus.

So is it a different function to the hit air intake from the exhaust to air filter?

Just to push this thread a bit further, I can explain that the second outlet on the Carb airbox is for the Air Injection sytem on carb models. Mostly not noticed but is just pollution control device. Acc to Sub WSM designed to inject fresh filtered air into exhaust pipe (#2,#4 cylinder Ehx port) to reduce HC emissions when engine is cold.
Mystery pipe no more!
Well always looking to find stuff to remove and generally waste time:rolleyes:. I decided to remove the useless "mystery pipe" and the little box next to it. see attached.
I trust this will be of no use to anybody, but since its a slow night...
