Awesome!!!
Lots of pics... Or else.
Could you please publish details of what you got done and the specs?
Dual webers?
Should get mine back next week, cam should be back by now, and engine together early next week, now I just need to wait for my head studs to arrive.

Cheers Cam

Will do once I've got the list of work done. Dual webers? hmmm...not this year :o Maybe one day but for now I'll just get the originals rebuilt, much cheaper and easier than going down any of the possible dual weber paths.

We need pics of your engine too btw ;)

From what I've heard the stock twin carbs go really well on the EA81s. I'd personally stick with them, but as it's your engine it's also your call ;)

Can't wait for the pics!

Cheers

Well I went round and picked it up today and paid the last little bit, all up the rebuild cost $2100. Work done includes:
Crank bearing journals ground .010 under size (Mains and big ends)
1mm oversized new pistons and rings
new gudgeon pins
Block bored and honed
Head gasket surfaces on the block machined
Heads faced and pressure tested
Valves and seats cut
Cam shaft ground and lifters faced
All seals and gaskets replaced
New water pump
rebuilt oil pump

And they repainted my rocker covers and sump black, as well as the engine silver but when I saw the pieces the block halves and heads looked like they'd been painted already, they were that clean ;)
I still have to get the inlet manifold cleaned up and the carbies rebuilt, that's next before the exhaust system.
By the time I got home it was nearly dark so these pics are with lights. Check the last one to see the intake valve guide, to see the twin port authenticity ;)

um, looking forward to see an exhaust port photo as the top side still looks like an ordinary EA81 head Sam - to the uninitiated, I do see, however the straight in look of the inlet port :) more light please ! Silver frosting on the block is new to me - saves hours with the dremel and countless wire brushes from Honkers. I see you have the go faster silver spark plugs to match :)

Well the uninitiated probably wouldn't know the difference between exhaust ports either ;) In my pic you can see the intake valve stem guide, will be nice now if I drop anything down there it will be easy to remove  Kidding, kidding. I'll take the exhaust port photo later, I'd need to flip it over to do that or have it on an engine stand. Silver plugs would probably be a no-go-at-all mod since the paint conducts electricity, they're just to plug up the holes.

Plans have changed somewhat after talking to Steve yesterday, looks like I'll break in the engine (carefully!) in the car as it is IF I can get the carbies built and paid for as well as the exhaust made up before the rego runs out (don't know how likely that is) But I also need to look for and buy another car in the same time frame :? (not to mention the parts car and L series gearbox that's waiting for me already) Dunno if there's enough money coming in during that time to pay for all that, we'll see. Otherwise break in will have to wait till the car is finished, many months away :(
