gearbox interchangeability
hi all, does anybody know the possibility of changing the auto gearbox from a 1994 liberty to a 1999 or other gen 2 auto box?
(has to be auto, due to my gf only having an auto license)

do you have the transmission product number? it will look something like this TZ102Z2CBA and is on the compliance plate on the cars body. as well it is written on the side of the transmission on a white sticker.
get that and it can be compared to the one on the 1999, if it is the same yes it can be changed, if it is different you may need to change the TCU that goes with the auto transsmission.

Gen3 (1998 ) and later transmissions are different and require a loom change to work. They are identified by the external oil filter on the passenger side of the transmission.
Im guessing your car is a 1994 Gen2 and the gearbox you are asking about is from a 1999 Gen3?
