Bolt looks like an M6 x 1.00.
Anyone had any luck with Helicoils on this application or tapped out a larger hole or tapped out an imperial hole or some other method to repair

Amen to that, and don't get the kits "M6x1" tap mixed up with other taps, cos it ain't M6x1 that's for sureCliff R wrote:I forgot how expensive the Helicoils are.
$60 + bucks for the kit, had to buy it though.
Will only need the "refills" next time.
Ah yeah, I thought you were talking about the 8 bolts that hold the cam box on the head - these are the buggers I've had a couple not quite tension up but are still holding!Cliff R wrote:Bennie
No problems with tapping as the issue is with the 2 bolts that hold the cam keeper and front cam seal in place.
They are as you said, there as a stopper. If you manage to compress one into the lifter tube then you're doing something very violent and very wrong!Cliff R wrote:What is the point of the circlip on each of the lifters.
Are they a stop for the lifter so it only goes into the head so far or what ?
Do they compress in and go into the lifter "tube" to hold the lifter ?
As an option check out Radum.com.au Thread repair kit [RDM-BM94-4060] 5 sizes for $36Cliff R wrote:I forgot how expensive the Helicoils are.
