I've found that the 1/2 drive isn't a great fit. A flat head screw driver can be enough to fill the gap to make the 1/2 drive fit "properly"

Cheers

Waiting on a set of Scepter Pro Car Ramps for Xmas. They're rated to 1150ea so will handle my Foz just fine. Plus their plastic so wont rust or scratch my beautiful hail-damaged paint

I kinda like doing things the "proper" way lol. I dont like using the wrong size anything... Does anyone know what size it is? I'm guessing maybe 14-15mm, 5/8", some weird size lol

Just found this, a Subaru Diff Plug Tool . Will it be 13mm? Seemed a looser fit than that...1/2" is 12.5mm so 13mm isnt much bigger

the torque on the plug shouldn't be that great so the close enough is good enough worked for me. when i un-done the plug there was no chance of stripping the plug as the fitment was very close.

nice ramps i got a set from repco 4x4 ones. cost only $103 so couldnt complain

The "proper" tool has slighly tapered sides.
The 1/2 socket spanner will work if it is pressed all the way in and turned carefully. Let it slip and you cannot use it for this anymore, you get one, carefull, go.
The spanners are avialble, try repco or bursons.

How did you go with the metho to clean out your diff? Need to know more as I will be doing this later today.

I'm also keen to know what this did to your diff's seals as I've *just* replaced the pinion shaft seal and don't want to damage it with metho...

Cheers
