Imprezza low range

Post by hydrowill » Tue May 14, 2013 5:16 pm

Hey just wondering what model imprezza 5MT came out with the 1.59 low range?

Can only find snippets here and there but nothing tying to a model.

I'm thinking one of the early imprezza sports wagons?

None!

The 1.59:1 low range only ever came out in the L series - hence why people do that L series low range conversion.

Best factory conversion you can find is in the 2L foresters and Imprezas at 1.447:1 from memory.

All drive Suparoo in NSW (again, from memory) do a 1.6:1 ratio which is probably just a remanufactured L series gearset that's modified to fit straight into the EJ setup.

Cheers

I've read a few places that there was an imprezza with 1.59. I'll try findustry some liinks.

Best of luck.. I've been playing (pulling them apart) with Subies since 1987 and I'm yet to find an Impreza with 1.59:1 low range.

There is 2 options.. use the L.Series Low Range (which is 1.59:1) or go the Scorpion kit which uses the Albin's 1.58:1 ratio gear set.

For my money, I'd go the L.Series way

Well, there's plenty of write ups about it, some differ in the way they go about it but they all end up with the same result!

Alpine Raven's write up

Phinzinza''s write up
