2003 my03 outback O2 sensor- 3 or 4 wires?

Post by nvmylh » Mon Mar 03, 2014 9:58 am

Hi all,
Looking at replacing the O2 sensor in the outback but have notice that it only has 3 wires whereas the bosch recommended universal sensor has 4..

Has anyone here used the universal sensor and just not had to use 1 wire?
I believe the bosch part number is 0258986507 or 0258007084
Thanks

Found an old comment from Gannon saying that you can use the 4 wire sensor and just wire the earth to the exhaust or body. Heater and signals wires stay the same..

I just replaced the front one on mine and it was a 4 wire. I got a Denso the same as the original for what I thought was a reasonable price. Mine was a 22641 AA140, it is written on the sensor, so check yours to be sure. They are listed on ebay for about $200.

BTW, my car is a 7/2002 MY03 XS Lux

Yup just throw a crimp on ring lug on the ground/earth wire and put it under a bolt into the body or engine
