Heya Doug, funny you mention that as I discussed with the mechanic up here today that we may want to visit the rear brakes sometime this week, mind you my bank balance is just about shot.Subydoug wrote:Thats good news mate. Could still be Gearbox though. And your sure its coming from the front of the car, not the back? Or still unsure?

would you know if the tin guards behind the disks and around the caliper area can be removed for good without affecting the performance of the car ??.
Cheers

There is a thin metal cover at the bottom of the bellhousing to close the gap between the bellhousing and engine, and also provides a good inspection gap to see the flywheel. Sometimes this can get bent up very slightly, just enough to rub against the flywheel ringgear and make grinding noises.

No noise when spinning on the Hoist...maybe because its not under load. Maybe the rear Diff?? got oil in it? You can pop the rear CV shafts out and it will eliminate the tailshaft, diff and bits that the tailshaft is connected to before the 4wd engagement thingymabob.

Doug
