anyone have any idea where my tcu is located on my 1998 gen 2 outback limited auto. its definitely not to the left of the steering column as everyone is telling me. the wiring goes up and then along towards the fuse box. Am i being an idiot? just cant see it

I'd do the old 'stick a camera in there' and let us see what's there ... :)

Are you sure it came with a TCU in your model year ?

According to RSR555 it is above the steering column in the same location as the American delivered Outback, albeit on the right hand side of the car.

It is a gold coloured case with 3 plugs going to it.

I've got to ask why are you looking for the TCU?

Yes code 24 is the duty C solenoid. I would be very suprised if this was bad wiring, but worth checking.
