Attn BYB boys - AWD Q
Hi Guys,
I'm aware that alot of people over your side of Australia are using AWD gearboxes offroad. I seem to be having alot of problems with mine (probably alot to do with the fact that I havn't fitted my RX rear LSD diff yet). But also I'm pretty sure the 4kgf centre diff in my AWD gearbox is virtually worn out. Before I go and replace that with another weak 4kgf one I was wondering if any of your guys are running the STI 12kgf ones??
If so where do you get them from? I'm having a tough time trying to source them locally.
Any info greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

theres been talk of tighter centres, but nobody up here has really bothered yet as the stock center seems to do fine.
Grant did fit the center out of a blown turbo box into his dual range box, you would have to ask him if it made any difference though. his old standard center seemed to work fine

Yeah my standard centre is certainly not working fine. If I can't find one of these 12kgf centres I might just have to replace mine with another standard one. I suppose if you guys are running them and they are performing well offroad then thats good enough.

Grant does whinge about his a bit from time to time. Often saying that it is not as good as the old L box with locked centre. I am more than happy with mine for offroading. I have mainly used turbo boxes with no low range, where Grant has been using dual range boxes. I do think now that he has the low low box in there with the turbo centre he is happier with it.
Hmm as far as I can tell the turbo boxes have the same 4kgf rating on their centre LSD's as the non turbo dual range boxes. I can get hold of a turbo one in good condition so I guess I'll stick one in and try it out in the mean time. Good opportunity to compare it to mine side by side anyways.
Are there any tips or tricks involved in removal/reinstallation?
