2024 New Engine Oil Change

Post by Subiwoo » Fri Jan 05, 2024 3:00 pm

Hi
Just wondering if anyone has changed their oil before their first service (12500km)in a new Subaru, for the last new vehicle(Holden) I got the dealer to change the oil at 500 km for the particles in the new engine and change the oil filter of course, my uncles always used to do it when they got a new vehicle.
How would it go if I changed it myself(Warranty wise).

Cheers

Dale.
P.s.
I am getting my new vehicle in 4-5 months, I just wanted to know before hand.

G’day Dale,

I’ve not had the chance or inclination to swing a new car into the stables but what you’re suggesting is what’s typically done after rebuilding an engine.

I think the best thing to do is drop into a Subaru dealership and ask them about the warranty side of things if you DIY early oil change - or ask them if they’ll do it, at what cost and whether they’ll document it on the car’s paperwork or not (if this is something you want recorded).

They may try to talk you out of this as they have their ways of doing things that’s worked for them for a very long time. It could also be worth asking these questions at another dealership you’re not intending to buy the car from, then the dealership you buy from won’t be suspicious of you potentially doing work to the car if there’s a warranty claim.

Cheers

Hi Bennie
Yeah, thanks for that.
I have thought on it and will just leave it until it is due,no hassles then.

Thanks
Dale.
