gearbox oils

Post by Cynical » Sat Sep 30, 2006 10:40 am

My old sube is havin a little trouble with shifting into second, particularly down shifting, so i'm assuming synchro is on its way out, is there a oil i can swap to that will increase the life of my poor old gearbox until i can afford to put in a 5sp.

note: its an 82MY with the 4sp dual range.

Cheers

Just get a 500mL tube of the Nulon gearbox stuff, that'll keep you goin for 6mths or so.

Shop around for a 5 speed an L series flywheel unless yours has a 9in one in there being 82 unlikely. and then get a new 9in L clutch plate and pressure plate with a new thrust race and pilot bearing you will need all those to swap it over. Generally if a syncro is on its way out its going to go anyway, slow down your shifting if you can or install a thinner oil.
