Urgent clutch help needed

Hey guys,
I'm half way through replacing my clutch. (first one i've ever done)
So I've got the freshly machined flywheel, clutch plate and pressure plate on the engine, all the bolts nicely torqued up(diagonally of course), and the gearbox slotted back into position. (not bolted up yet, but firm up against the engine.)

My query is, when i turn the crank shaft from the front of the engine, the flywheel turns, but not the drive shafts on either side of the gearbox...
I've put the gearshifter back on and am positive it's in gear.

Since having all that back on, I've now take the pressure plate and clutch plate back off and checked that the splines connecting the clutch plate and the gearbox are right, and they are. plus i can turn the shaft from the front of the gearbox by hand and the driveshafts turn.

What am I missing???

u didn't mention release bearing but im presuming u put that back on..

it doesn't really sound like uve done anything wrong but it kinda just sounds like it isn't in gear. which is all i could think that was wrong after reading that..
or the drive shafts weren't slotted in properly..

could propably get one of ur mates around to help you or finish putting it back on and test it with engine running

I had exactly those symptoms when i first put the Ej20 in the Brumby, so i pulled it all out again, and then realised the transfer shifter had jumped into neutral!
Daza = embarrasment!!!

Ended up taking the gearbox back off, check the clutch plate splines and everything was all good. So I spent the rest of the day putting the damn thing back on. (jeeez i reckon it woulda been a whole lot easier with a clutch allignment tool) With the box back on everything seemed to be working, driveshafts turning and all. so i have no idea what was wrong the first time...

Then ran outta daylight before getting everything else hooked back up, so it'll have to wait till next weekend unless i get off work early one day before then.
hopefully it's all good.

A trick to line up the clutch (by other board members) i got told is as follows
Just loosely bolt it all back together (i.e pressure plate to flywheel bolts, so it can still slightly move).
Put the gearbox and motor together (no need to align clutch plate as it can still move)
Tighten the bolts through the starter motor hole (turn crank at front of engine to line the bolts up to tighten), make sure you tighten all them to the torque required

Yeah that's what I did after some people on here suggested that the other day, but it's easier said than done in my opinion. plus tightening the bolts through the starter motor hole takes a lot longer than if you could do them with the gearbox still off.
Sure it's another way of doing it, but I'll definitely be getting the right tool if i ever change a clutch again.

finished the job yesterday morning and it seems to working really well.
big sigh of relief for me when i finished and everything worked, being the first time i've done anything major like this.
