new transfer case for brumby?
i was thinking about putting a different transfer case in the brumby so its rear drive in 2WD and you engage power to the front wheels when switching to 4WD. i've heard of a brumby with a nissan transfer case in it but it which one/type wasnt specified. has anyone done a similar sort of thing in a brumby (or l series wagon) ? how much should i look at spending if i were to do something of this nature? if anyone has any ideas and opinions on the matter it would be appreciated.

massive amount of work mate. requires a rear diff mounted in the front end, and a shitload of body lift (think 12" ...) to make room for all that in the front end.
have a read up on how a subaru box works. you will then understand how much work is involved!

i like people who won't take no for the answer so keep up with the idea.
the early Suzuki's used to have a remote transfer case behind the gearbox. maybe you could look at the setup and fit a Suzuki gearbox and remote transfer to the subi engine. yes you will have to lift the body and maybe you could lift the motor on the mounts to help get some clearance. take the sump of the motor and run a dry sump could give some more clearance as well.
maybe mount the subi to a susuki chassis????
keep in mind that when off road with this setup you won't get any real advantage over what you have now.
have fun

my last 4wd that i built and had fun scaring subarus on fire trails:twisted:
full NSW rego. 270liters diesel. 140liters of water. airide suspension on front axle.
self contained for a week with 6 adults. Island cab was cut and narrowed 300mm to fit the chassis.
Great fun off road. Now lives in FIJI as a mobile dentists truck.
