are all ej25 gearboxes the same? will a 2007 forester gearbox fit in a 2000 outback? does $1100 sound alright for the gearbox with 36K on it? thanx in advance. eden

The gearboxes should in theory bolt in with out a problem. Differences might be in diff ratios or forward gear ratios that the forester uses that your outback doesn't use - I'd say this would throw out your speedo reading too.

$1100 sounds a bit steep to me, but with 36,000km on the clock I guess they could as for that price.

Someone will know if there are gearing differences. Bolting pattern may have more bolts on the gearbox, but you ignore them and use all the bolt holes on the gearbox.

Cheers

Bennie

$1100 for a 2007 box sounds ok in price. The amount of bolts is also the same on those two models. Not sure on ratios though. Some one here will know though.
