That's some good compression there!

Did your mechanic hint as to what the oil burning might be?

Cheers

Yeah the compressions really good. Whats a new engine? 250psi or so?

Seemed to think the valve stem seals or oil ring seals for the burning oil. But to do that is a huge job and not really worth it. Just have to keep an eye on the oil. Might permanently leave some oil in the foz as backup :)

Awesome Taza

Cant believe how good that compression is...

So now please be gentle with her...at least for a little while lol

PS: I always keep a 1L bottle of oil plus few emergency bits in the car, like wire & tape. Not much you cant do with a roll of duct tape & some fencing wire! ;)

Yeah I will look after abit better :D

I usually keep a few bits in the car too like wire, duck tape, plyers, pressure gauge, tyre deflators, pump and a few other things. Always come in handy.

Its made my Christmas her working fine now :P

Good news mate i'm glad it all worked out for you in the end. I wouldn't feel bad about the cost, and personally i think its a bit of a false economy to compare maintenance costs and conversion costs. You could have bought a 2.5 engine and had just as much if not more trouble with it than your current one, meaning that maintenance could have been on top of the conversion cost!

I agree...a conversion isnt the cheap way out of a fix, its what you do when you're car is completely sorted & you have LOTS of cash to pour into it. The cost of the engine, while not small, isnt the major cost involved.

I think what you've done is the right way to go...
