Hey all, i took my suby for a bit of a bush bash today, and ive realised that it does need one thing, an LSD. but the thing is, i really dont know much about them and i've had a skim through the website and see theres all different gear ratios. I have a 88' L series, EA82 Carby. Part time 4WD(HI&LO).
what would my gear ratio be? and what car would i be looking to get a LSD from? and what process is involved in it? is it a big job, or not too bad.
I mainly want one for a bit of offroad purposes and going on the sand. cheers, any info or knowledge would be great as i'm clueless on diffs or what itd take to get and LSD going in my baby.
cheers.

Most probably you have a 3.7 (You can look on the back of your existing diff - it probably says "3.7". You can find an LSD from an RX L Series - all of which I think are 3.7 - unless they have been modified. They are a bolt in swap as well.

I have one in my L Series wagon - its great on the sand.

wellll unfortunatley i'm located in NSW, lol which is a bit out of the way. but i'd be more then happy to organise some sort of freight and pay a bit extra for the hassles if one was to come for sale :)

Indy - my first one was $370 and the second one was $440 (which I begrudingly paid from a wrecker). People know what they are worth - and Datsun guys love them too coz they fit in their cars.

Your best bet is try to asking on here.. or go the wrecker option.

Hey can any one help PLEASE
I have a 7-86 L series RX Retro fitted EJ20t 3speed auto (Manualised)
with a 3.7 rear diff i belive to be open (with the rear jacked up i can spin one, the other is stationary)
My quiestion is can i get seme 4.44s diffs for it as I have not seen anything about changing ratios in autos ,how hard is this and is the ratio in the auto the same or could it be different.

If you've got a l series 3speed auto, 4.44 won't be doable.A ej auto with a 4.44 is .

all L 3sp auto's were 3.7 front diff. Some had a reduction in the rear transfer that gave you a 3.9 rear but the front was still 3.7.Maybe get a bigger stall on the converter. What are you trying to achieve?

Mick... just a little bit of useless info that is locked away in my brain cells... RS Legacy AUTO from Japan had 4.44 ratio as standard (Australian non-turbo auto was 4.11). I'd be asking some of your local Importers or someone on this forum if they have 1. You would need to use the Crown Wheel and Pinion Shaft to make it work tho ;) but not retro'd into a L. Series auto :(

Sorry to jump in on someones thread
