Why do I only have about an inch of travel? Clutch pedal & cable have been replaced & the problem still exists.
Cheers,
Hayden.

+1 or incorrect model cable installed.

It's very unlikely for him to have the wrong clutch cable, or a bent clutch pedal as he has stated both have been replaced and "the problem still exists" which implies he had the exact same problem before replacing them. Unless he has gotten the wrong model of clutch cable again (how long was the last one in the car?) or somehow gotten another bent clutch pedal.
I would say there is an adjustment somewhere that has been missed, or it's been installed wrong. I can't remember from the last time I was under the dash but check where the cable mounts up near the pedal that it's mounted properly and if there is an adjustment. Otherwise adjust down at the other end of the cable ontop of the gearbox.
Got any more detailed photos of the installation? That will help heaps.

I think it may have something to do with the pedal box. ??? Yes, both the replaced clutch cable & pedal were the same dimensions, nor damaged.
I shall get some more pix on the w/end.
Cheers guys,
Hayden.

can you get some photos of inside the engine bay ontop of the gearbox where the clutch cable comes out?
i suspect this is where the problem is.

This happened in my L Series recently. We had some of the clutch cable parts behind the clutch fork instead of in front

This is how it is for me as well mate. Looked at everything, correct cable, bent parts, pedal box assembled right etc... still does it, got me miffed. I am down to thinking its something to do with the clutch/pressure plate, but that does not really make sense. Anyway way will know within the next month as I am going to change my worn clutch soonish.
Your pics look normal to me.

you dont have a return spring off of the fork is what i can see.
so your clutch still works fine as it is?

Most of the time. Can be reluctant to get into gear sometimes, but other than that it works fine.

it all looks correct. My final thought is it could be a bent clutch fork? other than that im stumped!

I reckon it'll be the clutch fork pivot bolt in the bell housing - if the retaining nut is not properly tightened, it can slowly wiggle its way down the available thread as the clutch is used over time. If every thing else is in good order this is my bet. The only way to fix this is pull the motor or gearbox. Just make sure you don't adjust it out so far that the pivot will rub against the clutch pressure plate housing - I almost did this with mine.
Good luck with it.
Cheers

I fiddled with this assembly (clutch fork) and tightened everything back up again, installed a new clutch, and now everything works as it should. Since I changed the clutch as well I cannot say for sure that it was the clutch fork pivot bolt, but it was mostly likely the cause as the old clutch was not toooooo bad.
