I installed liftkit on the weekend and took out the air intake hose so nothing twisted or pull when lowering the engine. The little hose that comes out of the bottom of the air intake has a plasic nipple on the engine end and it snapped clean off as soon as i tried to take the hose off. i have plugged the hose but now my engine check light always stays on.

does anyone know what this part is called and what it does and would it be the reason for the check engine light staying on. i have attached an image.

i guess i need to find another one.

not sure on technical name, but its the "do dad" that opens the egr "thingy ma jig" on other side of intake. should see a tube that runs from it (egr thing) to the exhuast passenger side thats what it controls.

yep , it is the egr solenoid an the ecu 3 plugger knows when it is stuck upen or stuck shut and throws a code. These little bits always blody break off and would not happen so often or easily if they were softer mounted. Same do dad on turbo , carby models , easy to find at wrecker. After fitting a carb version to my EA82T I have cleared the code and left the baby dangling loose so it don't break again.

thanks for the info. got the little bugger off last night and there's no way for a quick fix so it looks like it's off the the wrecker for me this weekend. it's not affecting the running of the engine just bloody anoying to have a red light beaming on the dash at night.

once u get it fixed there will be a minor difference in the way the car runs. Probably not very noticeable though.

once I got mine operational I consistently got improvement in fuel consumption saving 500ml fuel every 100km
