Yeah, Im going to take somemore pics when camera is charged and I can get some sun inside the ports.
What was wrong with them : They had Bridge cracks.

Was it just cracks, or were they leaking?

Interesting..... were these heads no good or you just decided to cut them up?

They is no good now, other than well documented presentation. I have a set to go on my engine soon, got them checked out by head shop . They say they are OK, even though they have the exhaust port leaking into combustion chamber - crack between both valves. I sorta don't like relying on this condition too much myself, so it is all experimentation.
Nice pics and thanks fer goin to the effort to share Neville

great pics! thanks for the effort...
i look forward to knowing more about the head problems. both sets of heads i've had have had a coolant leak coming out of the driver side, from the top front head stud coming out of the small bolt hole that goes in to it from the top (almost below the thermostat if you're looking at it on a complete engine.

I gave my engine builder a pair of cooked EA82T heads to cut up before he ported mine . I asked several times if he'd cut them up and he hadn't - I don't know why . If he had I'm sure he could have done a bit more on those HLA bosses .
Those "outlet bulges" were mostly removed on mine to improve exhaust flow .

Sweating on that computer Neville , cheers A .

Personally I think its debatable if you can take a whole lot out of EA82 MPFI inlet ports and get good gains . There's nothing wrong with cleaning them up and if you can take a bit off the rocker pivot bulge that wouldn't hurt either . The fella who ported my heads didn't cut up the cooked ones I gave him and even though I showed him pics of sectioned and ported ER27 heads in the lifter bulge area he didn't do much with them . My best guess is that he knew from building that engine that it wasn't going to make huge power so didn't do anything iffy .
I think the largest gains were made in the exhaust ports where they have a step in the wrong direction a little way in from the headers flange .
I think if you were going to run the standard MPFI turbo manifolds really the restrictions are mainly in the standard header and to a lesser degree the L type inlet manifold . The runners in the Spider manifold aren't any larger inside but the curve radius's are more gentle . The plenum volume I think is larger on the spider version .
If you wanted to make something custom then its possibly best to start with the spiders base flanges because they mount the injectors correctly aimed at the back of the inlet valves .
Everything I've ever read said that the cracks between the valve seats are no issue unless they leak in between . At USMB people have said that these heads sometimes leak coolant from a crack further down in the exhaust port and you can sometimes hear coolant hiss when it drips into the header after shut down .
There's a really easy fix , its called go to Repco or other and buy a bottle of Cargo Metallic seal up and follow the directions on the bottle . Basically flush the cooling system of green blood and pour the shaken bottles contents in a top up with clean fresh water . Run around for a couple of days with it circulating and then re flush the system and use a suitable coolant like Tekalloy .
For me no more hiss or coolant loss and the quickest simplest cheapest crack fix yet . My friend Coxy has been spannering for nearly 40 years and put me onto this fix .

Lookin good Nev, is that your big mug I can see in that reflection?
Why so shiny? is there an advantage?
So when are these going on the tex? Will you be accompanying them with an intercooler?

they've been in it since its been on the road, just been computer-lazy:D
They go good.
Working on an intercooler at the moment actually, heres a sneak peak:
