As some would know, we are in the process of sending a brumby front cut to the UK for one of our members there, Giles.

He has asked me about the possibility of throwing the makings of an engine rebuild kit inside the cabin for him before it is wrapped but I am wondering what these parts might cost here in OZ. He's looking at, full gasket set, main bearings and probably set of rings. I think I would be pulling the engine down first and having as good look in case he has to oversize, but what would these items cost here.??

He says that these parts are rare in the UK and very very pricey through the dealers.

The US site for ebay has a wide variety of EA81 parts there that they will ship worldwide....probably how I would go but can someone give me an estimate on best prices here and where they would be sourced from?? (Other than Subaru)

Thanks

T.

I brought a rebuild kit for my brumby in Jan 09 included all gaskets and moly rings and new pistons cost $600. Additional cost to re-bore and hone block, face cylinder block, pressure test heads, valve grind and surface grind and then I need to reassemble the engine. He would need to know condition of bore and if it required re-boring , then you would need the oversize piston and rings to suit bore size. Supplied by company in bris very helpful. hope that helps a bit.

I have my engine apart just wondering what the consensus is about what brand to get for bearings and head gasket? I also need a new water pump and oil pump - get genuine?? And what should i be looking at while i have it apart? It's my first attempt at an engine rebuild...
