ej20 oil leak

Hi, I seem to have quite an annoying oil leak in my ej20 (from 97 impreza) where it drips from the bottom of the timing cover and onto my exhaust manifolds where it smokes up nicely :D

Anyway, I was wondering if that would just be the front crank seal? I have bought a seal already and planning to do it on Thursday, as I haven't really worked with ohc motors before I was wondering if you guys had some instructions and tips to doing this and if there is a possibility it is leaking elsewhere?
Cheers

Rocker covers and crank/camshaft seals are the most common places :)

Cool I will replace the crank and cam seals first, is there any specific way to do it or could somebody point me in the direction of a repair manual? cheers

You will need to remove timing belt to access...

Sure its not power steering that is leaky?
cheers

You should pressure wash it all really well and recheck it.

It only seems to leak when it is running as well, soon as i shut her off it stops leaking. I will do a proper check when i clean it with degreaser. I'm pretty sure it is engine oil...

To do the crank and cam seals the cam belt needs to be removed. The cam tensioner is a painful device that will take some effort to push it back to place a pin in it. It took my dad and I with G clamp to get it back in. I've heard of people using a jack and a heavy 4wd. This didn't work for me when I tried it on dad's rangie's towbar :(

I'd put my money on it being either the PS lines/rack joints or the cam cover plate, they tend to leak at the rear of the plates.

Cheers
