Sorry if this has been covered before . Is it possiblr to fit a dual range manual gearbox to an xt. If so what mods are needed and how do they hold up?

Yes,
Change clutch to cable type, everything else should bolt up
Then cross your fingers and hope it dosent break! (it you take it easy and don't use all of the xt turbo torque in low range it should be ok)

Yeah you can do it, depends if you have hydraulic clutch or cable clutch (I'm sure yours is hydraulic, depends on the gearbox what it has fitted.
You will need dual range selector, centre console then you'll be off..
I'm not sure if the XT Foz has 4WD hi/lo cable attached on the loom ready to go - if its turbo it might not have it.
Otherwise its straightforward swap, ive done this before converting from single range to dual range on a Sedan.
Cheers

edit: oh I dunno if the Foz has 4WD hi/lo light ready to go on the wire loom, i doubt it but it would be bogus to find! if not - you can install one and install a globe on the dash.

what for>?
i have a turbo, and dont need low range???
just get a lift, ATR tyres, and an upgraded rear swaybar to stop body roll and you'll have no hassle?

yes, you must take it easy, too much power and that little cog wont take long to kill, then there is no point having the turbo if u cant use it??
what reasons where you wanting low range?

Cheers for the replies guys.
It has a hydraulic cluthc actuator .
I was wanting low range to stop the clutch burning when taking off from stand still in soft sand and when i tow my boat up the ramp , also for going slow over rocks and up steep hills .
Pretty bloody handy having a nice low gear i think.A must for off road i would say , unless you have an auto i guess

I disagree longy99gt, Low Range is very handy in most situations, rather burning the clutch out - end of story... specially sand, mud & hill climb and low range is worth it, its like creeping down in half of low 1st gear...
Low range can be used behind turbo, I know several people who has low range behind 200+kw turbo engines!.. Just tread it carefully you dont need THUMP down to twist the engine over as there is no need...
Having without low range its hard to deal with, its not about power, its about slow movement.

Nothing! Just tread the gearbox carefully! just like what you would do normally everyday!
