Auto elec Choke

Hi all,
Well i have had my 1990 brumby cut out on me whilst i have been driving and i posted it up here. I have recently worked out that it happens when it's just starting to warm up and i give it a little throttle.
last time it stopped i hoped out and had a look and i still had fuel and spark so i then looked at the choke and it was fully shut.
woluld this stop the car from going and make it take a while to start. if so how can i bypass or take the choke out. Please give me good details as the manual has not helped much.
cheers Brett
