Hi all,

I have a leak in my gear box from the 4wd selector shaft seal left hand side (Passenger Side) of the box.

Is there a way that i can fix this by not pulling apart the gear box cos i have just replaced the other seals on the gear box.

Or will it be cheaper to buy a second hand gear box from some where. I also want to look at putting a five speed in but sounds a bit to hard to do at this stage.
Can some one please help me?

Cheers Brett

I think you'd be able to replace it without pulling the gearbox a part, the box will have to come out of the subi though.

It will be fiddly and painful, but if you want to keep this box there's only one way to find out how difficult it will be.

If you're not attached to this box another one might be the go. Also do so research about the 5 speed conversion, it might not be as difficult as you imagine.

And how badly is this gearbox leak?

Cheers

Having just added to someones sloppy MY gear stick woes, my thoughts are for you to research the 5 speed L series box idea when you can afford time and money - well worth doing if you intend to keep. Have not had to deal with shifter seal leak, sloppy shift ever since I did my conversion.
Keep an eye out for my notes I plan to rewrite to shove on here - they got lost somehow in here. I covered a lot of detail based on dumb qusetions I asked and got gd answers from members in here 7 years ago.

It can be done with the box still in situ (bit fiddly but possible)
seal is $6.50 got two here in stock if you want one
