high reving in low 4

Post by hazzard » Wed Mar 02, 2011 8:56 pm

I noticed an issue last time i was running a muck up the beach driving in 2wd or high 4wd was fine but if i got stuck i put it in low 4 to get out only problem was is that its like there is some sort of throttle control because it held the revs in low 4 like if i gave it half stick it would hold the carby open at that amount only way to get normal revs was to shut her off n go again any thoughta on this

No idea other than a coincidence that your throttle is sticky when you were trying to use it in low 4th. There is no mechanism between the engine and gearbox that has anything to do with throttle control. I may have been an angle you were on or if you've got an auto choke something might have been going on with it that required the ignition to be cut for it to "reset" or switch off to release the throttle.

You should see if it will do it again - the angle of the vehicle may have effected the problem or something else in that particular situation. I'd leave it be for now and monitor for a re-occurance, collate the events and see if there's a common theme in them...

Other than that I'm stumped at this time of night!
