Anyone know how an EA81 brumby runs with an Empi or Weber carby. Would either give me a little more pickup etc? My brumby has it's original Hitachi but either idles too fast or stalls, its slow to pickup and I would like it to go a little better. I also have a carby off a 84 wagon. Would I be better getting that reconditioned? Any help would be appreciated . . .

not sure if the 84 carby will fit there are 2 different size baseplates and the older cars have a smaller baseplate carby

a weber will give you a better power range but will use more fuel as it is a bigger carby. the butteryflys on a hitachi are 28/34 where as a weber is 32/36

another little known swap is the solex from a TD gemini. (butterflys 30/34) it in theory bolts directly onto a brumby manifold with no modifcation apart from the throttle linkgage. the problem is finding one of these thats not going to cost as much as a weber.
