I have a 2002 Forester GT that has recently been significantly upgraded. It still has the stock auto box fitted but has a modified valve body. It has taken a bit of work to make the TCU happy to work alongside my MoTeC ecu but we have managed to get them working together with no fault codes.

I'm aware that the transfer doesn't have a VTD and that if I cut the power to the clutch in the centre diff then it will lock the transfer. However, I've read about a couple of people burning out the clutches and I'm pretty sure it won't be long before that happens to mine if I go down this road.

The front to rear torque control is pretty dismal with the stock TCU. It is now to the point where I have broken a front driveshaft due to the lack of torque transfer to the rear wheels.

I'm not to sure how many of you know that there are actually two different auto transmissions in foresters. Well, I have the later model one that has the filter on the side. So far it's been almost impossible finding anyone that knows anything about these boxes. I am led to believe they are the same as the tiptronic model but without the tiptronic control.

What I want to know is, what are my options for more rear drive bias.
I have thought of reverting to an older box (and TCU) with VTD but I'm not sure what to get. Another option (favoured) would be to bolt a VTD onto the back of my current box (if it will fit). I have been told conflicting stories about whether the VTD will bolt up.

My car is primarily a street car and will make the odd trip out to the drag strip and possibly even see the odd day at Symmons Plains.

The gearbox feels stong and the shifts are nice with the modified valve body but on the street it is possible to spin the front wheels when boost hits. When the centre diff takes up it pulls in with a strong thud so I would say the clutches are OK for now.

Any/all advise will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not too sure what power it's putting out but I have managed a 13.0 @ 107mph recently.
