i just bought a 92 brumby with a weber carb, and im not sure whats wrong with it, it starts well but when i turn it off it runs on for a bit longer (like 5 seconds) any ideas what it would be?

It's running too rich and is "dieseling" on shut off - also known as running on. It's caused by the carbon deposits on the pistons and the compression chamber heating and creating an ember that ignites the fuel mixture. When this happens the engine sound really unhealthy. To rid you of this problem you might need to re-tune the carb and some engine cleaner/fuel additive stuff might help clean it out.
The other thing it could be is a dodgy ignition switch that is remaining on for a couple of seconds after you've turned it off - sounds stupid but my L series does it with the accessories from time to time.
Cheers

Yep.. sounds like the anti-dieseling switch is missing from your weber.. what model/year weber is it?

My weber doesn't have the anti deiseling switch. once i got the weber tuned and put a can of u.e.c through the car i had no problems with run on.

idle speed is the first thing to check and adjust (and tell us what you got)

Oh.. Ok.. so if no anti-dieseling solinoid then a good clean and check idle rpm will be good. If still no good then I'd check that the jet sizes are correct.
