Hi.

I have a 3" lifted 3rd gen outback and with the lift my cheap but brand new boots at the front split. So I am looking for some new boots that are the best heavoest duty most sorted to handling the greater cv angles.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers

I had the same problem, effing things lasted about an hour off road in sand and both inners went, there is shaft a re-builder in Ozzy Pk near King Edward/George? St that replaced mine with some heavy duty ones and they have been good so far, cost me $75 fitted from memory...Check the yellow pages.

You forgot to mention that you have only strut lift an no body lift at all thus giving that crazy cv angle and therefore splitting a boot in 3weeks time:)

Yeah 3" strut lifted. The new boots were like 30 bucks cheapies that my mechanic put on.

99% sure that's it but maybe a couple of units closer to King Edward road where the carpark is a little paler. Bunch of rough looking buggers but know their stuff and deliver if need be, they were going to drop mine in Mullaloo at no extra cost but I was still in the area so I picked them up.

Booked in at cv specialists in ozzy park 220 fitted for both fronts. I asked for the best most hd boots they had so for that price id say they are pretty up there.

Just buy the boots supplied and do it your self. Cheaper plus you lean more about your car.. Did you get them from Alan's? I need to get mine sorted too:p

Got boots done at allans. They decided to put a small version of the boots they put on lifted hiluxes. They are extra long high angle boots. They look like they should hold up awesomely

I think that's the ones they put on mine too, I put 1" strut lifts in the front yesterday so see how they hold up.

Generally the best boots are genuine Japanese ones , mostly the cheapies are chow mein rubish "rubber . If you get a new real one and compare it to a new garbage one you can see and feel the difference in the material . They are softer and more flexible - designed for the task .
Yes they will be expensive but how long have they survived since new ?
Running these joints constantly through more severe angles works the boots (and joints) harder so their lives will be shorter . The joints even more so when "grinding paste" gets inside them .

Ive found that the ones that you get from Bursons, i think they are called motogear or something similar, they are in a red and white box.
These feel the most flexible of all the boots ive bought

While you are there, could you please get a part number, and brand?
This would help people who are not in WA who may want the same boots.

Cheers Cam
