diff rations in mv brumby?
hopefully in the next fortnight i will be putting a lift 15" rims and 27" tires on my brumby but am concerned that the already very average low range will become next to useless, anyone done diff rations or knows much about them?
Standard brumby diff ratio is 3.7 as far as I know.jakebrumby wrote:hopefully in the next fortnight i will be putting a lift 15" rims and 27" tires on my brumby but am concerned that the already very average low range will become next to useless, anyone done diff rations or knows much about them?
i'm changing mine to 4.44 but i'm also putting in a different diff/engine/gearbox.
with 25" mud tyres on 14" wheels my ea81 struggled. low range is crap no matter what you do but the lack of power makes it difficult (hence my ej25 swap).
what 15" rims are you getting?
Brumby 1992: EA81, 15" peugot steelies, 2" ********* body lift, tonneau cover, bullbar, GME UHF, ARB compressor, ********* rear diff protector, SOLD

Remember that you will have to change both front and rear diffs, which means pulling apart the gearbox to replace the front diff

i dont have any automotive training and i've done the rear diff easily on many cars.jakebrumby wrote:so on a scale of one to ten how difficult is it? keeping in mind i only have a cert 2 in automotive and only gearbox iv ever rebuilt was a little 3 speed... and hilux rims after 6 stud conversion
the front diff is harder though, especailly being that your have to get into the gearbox, so if your hesitant get someone else to do it.
i dont think its worth it to be honest.

Doesn't the brumby already have 1.59 low range?EJ22Ute wrote:is the L series 1.59 low ratio compatible with your gearbox.
i have done it with awd 92 liberty box.
Wouldn't an EJ22 swap be more beneficial comapred to swapping the ratios. Then you would have more power throughout the whole car and more torque everywhere too.
