QUICK head gasket help

For a close friend:
Just say we appear to have a serious head gasket or similar type leak (water disappearing at about 2L / 30minutes and not visibly leaking anywhere but no traces in oil) and we want to do a quick fix to make it go say another 5000km but aren't really interested in having the engine last any longer than that, does anyone know what product we can just stick in it without having to go all internal and stuff?

Chemiweld works really well

almost any of the head gasket fixers need you to not overheat for idling 30 minutes coz if you lose water somewhere too quickly you are losing the additive you stick in water to fix, so I am reluctant to try any but desperation calls Chemiweld has worked wonders at times for some, some in here swear by Car Go 's Seal-Up. I think these will seal up cracks but not head gaskets with cylinder pressures blowing anything out of the way.
Blow steam or white smoke ?
Tell us what you try and the results will help others asking same question

i tried the seal up stuff (clear bottle with funny looking copper coloured stuff in the bottom) and it did nothing for my patrol when it blew the HG, chemiweld did work.
It wasnt loosing 2l per 30mins though. Not sure if anything will work if the HG is blown to that extent.

Egg white and pepper were old tricks but not sure if true and I couldn't see them lasting and more for radiator leaks but for $20 I give the chemiweld a shot, it might slow it down enough to throw a second bottle in to seal it, our old taxi just about ran on pure chemiweld after leaking for about 300,000kl lol.

I have had excelent results with cargo seal up, yes the same stuff ALex had trouble with.
I dont drain it out after the 30 mins.it dosent effect the radiator or the water galleries.
Cheers Pete
It worked

Just a follow up and the ChemiWeld worked a treat. The car was leaving for the Shitbox Rally and covered around 4500km without any further dramas before it was on-sold (for $25) so it seemed a great fix.

It was a 93 Magna Wagon with 215k km and that was with 10months NSW rego, two spare tyres and two new jerry cans. WAs about a 97.5% loss in (purchase price) calue over 7 days

Yes, a bargain, they'd probably get over $500 to cancel the rego and CTP.

I have wanted to do the s***box rally, it looks like awesome fun! good way to see a bit of Aus, meet some new people and thrash an old bomb through the outback for a week or so

. Forget holiday in Bali, that is the kind of thing that appeals to me! did you go, or a friend? was it good?

My sister did it with her boyfriend, unfortunately they couldn't find a Subaru that was a shitbox to use but there were several that made the trip.
Next year I think it's Adelaide to Perth via Uluru. I'd love to do it too.

Got a link to the website, I'd love to be involved but think it's probably a better idea to secure some work first

I know, I know. I really should get my priorities straight!
Cheers

Adelaide to perth sounds alright, but i live in perth and travelled to Adelaide a few times. think i will wait till they go back to the top end, never travelled up there. I pretty much promised my sister i would do it with her when she got her license and she has that now, so is on to me to do it.

Adelaide to Perth: via Uluru and then West through the Simpson desert...so maybe not your normal Adelaide to Perth route.
