got my 1990 brumby about a month ago and took it out bush last weekend, when i went to drive it home from camp the next morning it wouldnt select reverse and all the forward gears had alot of slop in them, the only thing i can see that might have caused the problem is it had a bit of a knock on the underside the selector looks fine? does anyone have any advice please?

the two grub srews that conect the slector the the shaft. you will have to get under it to look see

Gearbox mounts and firewall stay rod would definitely worth a look at but I find 99% of the time, it's the gear selector hub on the back of the box that gets worn out.. best way to check this is to select 1st or 3rd gear (best to try with out engine running) then see if you can more the gear stick from left to right. If it moves more than 100mm from side to side, then check bushes and selector hub. I modify the hub (cut 2 slots in the front part) then put a high tensile bolt and nut through the roll pin hole and then tighten as hard as you can. I also try and remove all oil/grease from the hub beforehand.
