i have done a head or head gasket in my 96 liberty and was wondering out of couriosity what other engines i could put in to it. i was looking at the legacy twin turbo, ej25 quad cam, or perhaps any little diesel that might fit. basically if anyone knows what it would take to install i am aware that a harness splice would be required. while I'm asking what are some easy mods i can do to the ej20 to get some more power. if there is an engine around sydney-nowra region i might be interested also though i do have an engine in an almost identical crashed car though its got some k's on it.

You could stap a supercharger on the EJ20. That's what im doing with the EJ20 in my Forester as it's a gutless piece of shit.

You *should* be able to get an EJ22 long block, swap your EJ20 intake onto the EJ22 and off you go.

If the intake from the EJ20 doesn't fit the EJ22 then there's an issue there to sort out.

Cheers

96 Liberty is already 2.2L......why you pissing around with a 2L

Twin turbo front cut is an option and pretty cheap if you can do it yourself, everything will fit, just a matter of swapping dash, wiring, motor, tranny and probably diff, not the most popular motor out there but they still go like a shower of shit and if you put the larger B4 turbo's on they are even better........... or change it to single turbo and you'll have a great set up, plenty of people have done it on forums like RSLC.

My mistake i have got the 2.2. thanks for your your advice. i piked up the liberty i crashed and i am thinking of just swapping motors over for though it was a front end impact, with a little work and replacement it will be good to go.
