Engine oil

Can anyone recommend a good engine oil for a 2007 forester x?
I use penrite hpr30 20/60 in my other car (Sierra) is this ok for Subaru

Penrite hpr 30 (full mineral) is what was reccomend to me and what I will use in my newly rebuilt EA81.
As far as I know it is great for solid lifter, push rod engines.
Dunno how good it would be for an EJ series engine.

Too thick.
HPR 15 would be better.
Good enough for me, one car is turbocharged.

I use Penrite HPR10 (10W50) fully synthetic for maximum protection

Thanks for the replies, i was leaning towards fully synthetic for the newer engine so i think i'll probably go with the HPR10 or 15

Are the HPR 10 15 and 20 mineral or synthetic.
Hpr 30 I know is full mineral.

I use this too in my new motor in the foz. Works well but I'm yet to have it in on a week of 40+ degree days...
I used to use Shell Hellix 20W50

It's an age old question and you'll get many different answers.
I read once....imagine your garage is your sump. Fill it with tennis balls. That non synthetic oil. Now refill it with marbles. Thats synthetic oil. So its much finer and therefore a better lubricant.
I rang a few oil manufacturers. I came away with the view that most recommend a synthetic blend so you get the best of both worlds and keep oil cost low. Thats for my ea81 that's done 90,000kms since full rebuild. The previous owner- an older mechanic that nursed his engines, used 20W-50 non syn.
10-12,000kms between changes. Buy oil filters in bulk. But up to 20,000 is ok nowadays with the advances in oil quality IMO.

Did the service today and used HPR 5 fully synthetic.
I checked on the Penrite website and you can put in the make/model
and they recommend which oils are best suited, anyway i'll put some k's
on it and see how it go's.
